It turns out giving myself permission to chill actually increases my ability get stuff done. I'm cool with that.

Here is one of the things I did today.

Whence


"from somewhere" 9" x 12" watercolor and pen

For one of my previous projects, I made 6 stencils, which, combined in various ways, made 12 designs. I didn't utilize the stencils to their full potential, in my opinion, so I made an additional art piece with them. They're now so caked in spray paint that I probably will have to throw them away. That's ok; I've never re-used any of the stencils I've made anyhow.

I'm happy with how this one turned out. The layering is only marginally captured in the photo, but I guess that's why originals are always best.

Grace

I finally used this piece of paper I'd experimented upon with leftover watercolor droppings, salt, and some clamps (to keep it from warping). I've learned that wasting things is completely unnecessary in art making, and supplies don't have to be fancy in order for the art to be good.

For the drawing part, I used orange and white chalk, charcoal, and an eraser.

Little Singing Bird

I made this piece as a graduation gift for my sister Kenzie.
She likes to sing.
But she isn't a bird--she's a human.

She's Underneath

How this was made:

First, I affixed some patterned paper to a piece of wood.
Second, I created a stencil using a piece of scrap paper.
Once the stencil was complete, I taped it at the edges to the wood and sprayed it with lime-green paint.
Finally, I added a layer of red tissue paper, and scraped off bits of it.

Please Stop Me

I used some strange materials to create this image. I started with a crumpled up piece of hp photo paper that was bound for the garbage. I then did the sketch with a uniball pen, and splattered on some orange-red ink and—strangely enough—vanilla extract.

Junk Face

I made this piece when I was preparing for a move: it's made out of scraps of garbage.

This is made of a piece of wood, tissue paper, colored scrap paper, glue, and spray paint.

The First Spray Painting

Making this picture opened the door to new medium experimentation for me. It was my first attempt at stencil-cutting and spray paint.
